Conference Topics
CAARS 2026 will feature two and a half days of dedicated video analysis training for accident reconstruction. Sessions will cover a wide variety of topics including basic video theory, techniques for proper forensic video recovery, and methodologies for analyzing vehicle position, speed, and acceleration from video.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their laptops as there will be some hands-on exercises.
There will be a mixture of technical sessions and case examples designed to give attendees theoretical and practical knowledge for crash investigations involving video evidence.
Topics include:
- Basics of video compression
- Frame-level metadata and frame timing
- DVR interrogation and video extraction techniques
- Video of video
- Photogrammetry for static and moving cameras
- Calculating position, speed, and acceleration from video

Sunday October 4, 2026, at the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach.

Additional Conference Information:
Refunds, minus a $50.00 processing fee, will be made when cancellation is made 30 days prior to event. Substitutions will gladly be made at any time.

All checks must be received by October 10, 2025 or the “at the door” price will be charged and payment will be due on the first day of the conference, prior to receiving conference materials.
